Hi, I’m Freya
I lead Reframe Sessions. I am a practising psychotherapist living and working on Gadigal and Bidjigal land / the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
I work therapeutically with a range of individuals and groups, including teenagers, families, execs & athletes. I am particularly interested in supporting the emotional well-being and mental strength of individuals during and after injury.
As a runner and ex competitive rower myself, I have experienced the challenges that injuries can bring, and the possibilities than can unfold with meaningful support.
Qualifications
I have a decade of experience working with businesses, teams, families and individuals to unlock positive change. I've been lucky to learn from and lead talented teams at Google, the BBC, and the NHS to name a few.
I have a degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Family Therapy. I am currently deepening my skillset with a Masters in Clinical Family Therapy and a one year program in Narrative Practice at the Dulwich Centre. Alongside this I am a Certified Red2Blue Coach where I train high performance teams to work under pressure. I also have several years of experience working with the Samaritans - a helpline for people experiencing suicidal thoughts.
I am registered with PACFA and AFT as a student.
Approach
The approach to Reframe Sessions is shaped by Freya's core training in systemic and narrative therapy. Problems are looked at in the context of the bigger picture of people’s lives. The way a problem affects - and is affected by - our relationships, the social and cultural factors that shape our experiences, and the way each of these influence the stories we tell about ourselves. We'll work together to identify the skills, values, and communities that can help reduce the influence of the problem on a person’s life.
Reframe Sessions use these ideas in combination with coaching techniques and mindset skills that tend to work well with athletes.
